Kriti Kala is a part of Kriti Social Initiatives (http://www.kriti.org.in), a not for profit organization committed to women’s empowerment and education of children. Kriti works in the slums in Hyderabad and one of its major initiatives has been to provide skills training in the area of tailoring, hand embroidery and paper bag making to unskilled women from the slums. Once the women finished the skills training program, many of them started asking about income generation opportunities and that is how KritiKala was launched. We are passionate about sustainability and love working with fabric discards to make patchwork products. We are also committed to supporting artisans involved in the handloom and handcrafted textiles sector and use local textiles such as Kalamkari, Mangalagiri and Ikat.
Each product is hand-made and provides a fair source of livelihood to the artisan who worked on the textiles as well as the woman involved in stitching or embroidering the product.
Our products are available for whole sale purchase for other retail agencies. Please write to us on firstname.lastname@example.org to find out more. We also make a range of jute bags suitable for conferences, wedding gifts and training programs. Please contact us for an enquiry.
